This art piece was created during the 6th semester in Sydney. The task was to visualise data in a tangible object.
I chose the numbers of refugees coming from Africa and Middle East to Europe in a period of 5 years. By linking the data to the proverb “to get the ball rolling” I decided to separate the refugees into three directions; eastern mediterranean, central mediterranean and western balkan route.
Those directions are visualised by three balls that start to roll according to the number of people moving during one year. This creates three balls moving in different speeds controlled by an arduino board.
